POSITION SUMMARY

The Programmer Analyst’s role is to research, develop, test and maintain new and existing software applications on the IBM System I server.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.
  • Conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Maintain existing software and create new software when necessary, using RPG and CLP.
  • Modify and convert data base files in DB2/400 – including Membered Files.
  • Write queries/reports to retrieve information on request.
  • Support Database Integrations between the IBM Server and existing applications.
  • Service Desk Team Member.
  • Assist other departments with time-sensitive jobs, like Month End and Fiscal Year End processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation of the current system software, when needed.
  • Provide time tracking and project feedback data.
  • Lead planning and/or implementation of department projects.
  • Use expertise to answer questions from less experienced teammates.
  • Respond to escalated inquiries and problems that cannot be resolved by more junior teammates.
  • Work to distribute application knowledge throughout team.
  • Complete technical research and analysis and share findings and possible solutions with team.
  • Provide analysis and work on special initiatives and projects from the Director of IT.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two-year or higher technical degree in information systems or computer science
  • 7+ years of experience programmer analyst/developer role writing code and technical specifications in the iSeries platform for Custom applications and RPG based ERP systems
  • Ability to create and maintain IBM i programs (RPG and CL), modules, tables, indexes, procedures and functions
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices
  • Prior experience programming in complex RPG and CLP projects (5+years)
  • Knowledge of IBM System I Work Management – including Job Queues, Output Queues, Subsystems and other general IBM principles
  • Prior experience with Integration Technologies – ODBC, JDBC, XML, FTP, etc.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Manufacturing environment experience
  • PRMS ERP experience
  • Lotus Domino skills
  • iSeries OS upgrade experience
  • PTF patching
