LPA is seeking a passionate Project Accountant to join our integrated team of architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects and master planners. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with team members across studios on projects that are both local and across California and Texas. Our clients are both public and private and represent nine different market segments so your career can take many different trajectories. You will have interaction with our CFO and leadership team regularly and will be responsible for task and time management. Every day is different!
You will be working with Project Leaders, Directors and Principals in the studio and across the firm. We are looking to you to look at ways to improve processes, think critically, and help inform our team members regarding the financials of their projects.

What you will do:

    • Create, update, and validate project and budget setups in the accounting system
    • Review, process, and match incoming consultant invoices to Purchase Orders (PO)
    • Validate billing setups and generate bills
    • Process pre-bills based on Project Managers’ feedback & system calculations
    • Work with Project Managers to identify when a revenue accrual is needed
    • Follow up on aging receivables (not primary responsibility for collections)
    • Investigate and perform analysis on variances and submit findings to management
    • Generate ad-hoc reports as requested
    • Investigate all unbilled project costs
    • Assist Project managers in circulating and processing write-off requests
    • Perform analysis on unbilled cost and/or unearned revenue to ensure proper project close-out
    • Use standard best practices for project accounting and/or other applicable GAAP accounting rules
    • Maintain and file project-related records
    • Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
    • Maintain a positive and collaborative professional environment with Project Managers and peers
    • Other accounting duties as assigned

Project Accountant Requirements:

    • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner according to established deadlines
    • Must be an effective communicator at all levels and enjoy working in a team environment
    • Experience with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Degree in Accounting or Finance desired
    • Flexibility, collaborative, self-starter, detail oriented
    • Knowledge of MS Dynamics a plus
    • Background in the AEC industry a plus
