A Day in the Life of a
Project Accounting Manager

You oversee the financial management of large-scale and complex projects. You will lead, support and mentor a team of Project Accountants for billings, collections, allocation of project costs, and revenue and ensure accurate reporting of the project profits and losses to management. You have a knack for defining processes and KPIs for monitoring and analyzing problem projects. You also assist with the monthly closing, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. You will use programs such as Vantagepoint/large ERP systems. You will perform your duties with a high degree of integrity and accuracy and assist your team with everything from proposal requests and contracts to helping your colleagues and clients to understand financial dashboards. Your team will rely on your help to develop project rates and budgets. Your work can be challenging, but you are part of a close-knit, supportive, and exceptional team.


Qualifications of a
Project Accounting Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Most candidates will achieve the necessary skill level after 5 years of experience in project-based accounting
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • A solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficiency working in Deltek Costpoint, Vision, Ajera, or a similar large ERP system
  • A working knowledge of FAR and CAS
  • A working knowledge in multi-state and multicurrency payroll
  • Experience in the A+E industry preferred

Work Schedule for a
Project Accounting Manager:

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week.

We are targeting a salary of $100,000 to $125,000.
