Project Controls Planner
Type: Full time
Reports to: AWP Manager
General Information/Job Summary
The Project Controls Planner will work with Discipline Construction Superintendent to create individual work packages, constraint management, and support scheduling. Planners will also assist construction personnel in the form of progress recording, package closure, and administrative tasks. These responsibilities may change according to the needs of the AWP manager, company and customer requirements for large scale gas processing facilities.
Position Location/Duration
This position will initially be based in Houston, TX to start preparing data. Prior to the construction start date, operations will mobilize to the construction site in La Barge, WY. Mobilization is currently planned for mid-March. The position will be needed into Q4 of 2024.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Daily Field Presence begin the workday in the field by performing daily walk-downs of the IWPs that are assigned to them and keeping close communication with the General Foreman.
  • Assisting with the implementation of the AWP Program
  • Define IWPs as a decomposition of the construction work packages agreed upon during Interactive Planning Sessions.
  • Develop, issue, and track IWPs using Smart Construction.
  • Estimate hour requirements for each IWP based on discussions with the Superintendent.
  • Verify material, drawing, and equipment constraints for IWPs within 90 days of starting.
  • Identification and removal of constraints, package progression, and releases.
  • Reschedule IWPs planned start date based on outstanding constraints.
  • Assist in troubleshooting field challenges with the Field Engineer to mitigate crew downtime and develop RFIs as needed.
  • Help manage close out of completed IWPs to optimize the turnover process.
  • Working with the Quantity Surveyor to validate and enter progress provided by Foreman daily.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Computer literacy with thorough knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel a must.
  • Ability to review schedules and identify, analyze, and solve schedule related issues.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a diverse multi-craft team environment.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • 1-2 years of field experience in Construction Engineering
  • Knowledge of AWP procedures (Advanced Work Packaging)
  • Experience with large scale gas processing facility/midstream experience
  • Experience with scheduling, data entry, and document management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk the property and laydown yards.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
