Position Description

In this role on the NBA’s Content Strategy & Business Intelligence team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the NBA’s extensive social and digital databases and processes. Reporting into the Director of Digital Data Strategy & Analytics, you will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and various stakeholders across the league to identify data opportunities that will support content reporting and analytics.

Major Responsibilities

• Monitor data and API connections and communicate errors and findings to database solutions team
• Develop and maintain data tracking schedule to fill data gaps across platforms
• Maintain manual data entry and export/upload process for platforms with API gaps
• Own content tagging process that powers content dashboards shared company-wide, including executive leadership
• Collaborate on data management projects (e.g. data standardization projects, data mapping)
• Collaborate with content strategy team to determine data gaps and opportunities
• Maintain and enhance team’s Jira project, Confluence spaces, and Jira Service Desk forms
• Learn to populate, design and build effective and high-performing Tableau reporting solutions
• Publish and maintain customized interactive reports and dashboards using Tableau Server

Required Experience & Knowledge

• 0-2+ years of data management experience
• Intermediate background and experience working with Microsoft Excel
• Detail oriented data background and exemplary analytical skills
• Knowledge of social media and digital data a plus
• Exposure or experience using Tableau Desktop, including calculations, visualizations, and knowledge of the practices and techniques of dashboard development a plus
• Ability to work within demanding timeframes in a dynamic environment
• High attention to detail, design, and innovation
• Passion for data and eagerness to learn new analytics tools and languages
