Total Western is currently seeking a Project Engineer to work at our Paramount, CA location.
The qualifications of this role are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Civil/Petroleum Engineering, Construction Management, or combination of higher education and experience to perform this role effectively.
- Experience in Industrial Construction preferred.
- Prior experience as an intern or entry level project team member preferred.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
- Regular travel to project sites is required.
- Must be familiar with estimating and scheduling processes.
- Must be able to read blueprints, CAD files, and shop drawings.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and comply with Company driving policy.
- Must comply with Corporate Drug and Alcohol Policy.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Learn, understand, and implement Total American PASS Program.
- Basic understanding of industrial construction practices, codes, and regulations.
- Basic knowledge of process plant design and types of equipment utilized in the industry as well as a general understanding of system operations (i.e., boilers, shoring, power cycles).
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and orally in a professional business setting.
- Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient in all the programs in MS Office.
In this role you will:
- Ensure that projects are performed in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Be responsible for the support, coordination, and completion of projects throughout their Region. The individual will help with all aspects of projects including but not limited to setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and tracking and reporting on the financial progress of a project.
- With the guidance and support from their direct project manager; a successful Project Engineer will work with Superintendents to help General Foremen and their crews deliver projects ahead of schedule and under budget.
- Participate in job walks and bid meetings to understand the scope of work and customer requirements.
- Assist Project Manager with project scheduling, tracking, issue management, risk management, change management, and status reporting.
- Develop and promote effective positive relationships with customer representatives and ensure that they are satisfied with the progress and quality of work performed.
- Provide accurate and timely reports to management and customers as required.
- Participate in team meetings and safety meetings.
- Work with supervision to assign foremen and crafts persons to the project.
Environmental Working Conditions:
- May be required to work outdoors on uneven surfaces.
- May be required to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- May occasionally be required to stoop, bend, and crouch.
- May work in areas with hazardous chemicals.
- Occasionally works in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels.
- Work will be split between an office and varying weather conditions: dark, hot, cold, and/or wet etc.
