We are seeking a Project Engineering Technician for our First Quality Products location in McElhattan, PA.
This position leads small projects or elements of larger projects to support Production, Product Development, Planning, Engineering, and EHS to optimize facilities, equipment, product quality, and manufacturing performance.
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
- By using extensive manufacturing experience and equipment/process knowledge: leads small projects by planning, executing, controlling/communicating, and closing;
- Leads elements of larger projects such as, but not limited to: bidding and negotiating as delegated by project managers; technical studies; designing mechanical elements or systems; communicating and documenting; planning/coordinating and overseeing OEM’s and contractors, developing, punch lists and managing to completion; facilities, layout and equipment development; equipment installation and commissioning; personnel training; regulatory compliance and safety initiatives
- Has access to very sensitive organizational business plans, product design, and company drawing files and maintains strict document control measures. Is involved with proprietary process changes and discusses matters only with those involved. Acts as responsible company contact in dealings with outside equipment and service providers.
- Works effectively with employees at all levels of the organization and outside suppliers to complete project deliverables. Asks questions to define expected deliverables and evaluate alternatives. Keeps manager apprised of work status.
- Interprets information and proposes ideas, seeks out opportunities and implements solutions to solve problems. Proactively follows up with customers to get feedback.
- Completes assigned tasks within allotted time and with expected results. Demonstrates urgency in meeting assigned projects.
- Handles assignments and priority changes constructively. Supports ongoing departmental improvement through personal actions.
- Shows sense of urgency with peers and line personnel to maintain focused actions. Pushes to get clear problem definition when tasks are not well defined. Sets timelines, and aggressively manages his/her efforts to meet commitments.
- Focuses personal efforts on assigned projects to achieve agreed upon results in a timely manner. Handles multiple projects in parallel and pushes others as needed to meet project deadlines. Keeps manager informed of work status and involves him/herself as needed.
Education and experience requirements:
- Has either a two year AS degree in an engineering field with at least 5 years of experience in a relevant manufacturing environment, or a 4-year BS degree in an engineering discipline.
- Has extensive manufacturing experience and equipment/process knowledge. Has project experience in bidding, requisitioning, planning (MS Project), and CAD.
- Has clear written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.
- Has direct experience in planning, coordinating and overseeing on-site trade contractors and OEM’s.
- Uses experience to learn new technologies and processes quickly.
- Can handle multiple projects with aggressive schedules and rapid changes with limited supervision in a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications.
