Works under the supervision of the Protection Manager/Supervisor and or Director of Facilities. Functions to protect facility and personnel from property loss and criminal activity. Provides services and assistance, as outlined by policies and procedures and directed by Management, to make the facility safe for employees, patients and visitors and to meet the expectations of Riverside Health System.

Overview

Provides services and assistance, as outlined by policies and procedures and directed by Management, to make the facility safe for employees, patients and visitors and to meet the expectations of Riverside Health System.
What you will do
- Responsible for handling emergencies through Lifeline.
- Demonstrates ability to round facility campus timely to ensure safe environment and address issues quickly. Makes periodic tours of facility grounds and buildings to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, criminal activity, and illegal entry. Enforces rules and regulations on facility property. Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning; renders assistance according to need or circumstances.
- Ability to respond with flexibility to changes and adapts to varying work assignment. Monitors fire, intrusion, duress, and security alarm systems and responds as appropriate. Functions in emergency circumstances as directed. Operates communications equipment in keeping with assigned duties.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with new employee/co-workers to enhance retention and help reduce turnover of staff. Demonstrates the ability to communicate reliably and accurately with all members of the team. Demonstrates teamwork and the ability to work effectively to maintain an environment of excellence. Demonstrates behavior that reflects values consistent with the Riverside Care Difference.
- Maintains positive public relations with the community. Escorts employees, visitors, and patients as requested. Assists with transportation and lifting of patients as requested. Assists patients in and out of vehicles as necessary. Directs and assists patients, visitors, employees, contractors, and other members of the public to the appropriate parking areas. Directs persons to the appropriate entrance of the facility. Assists with employee, contractors, and visitor badging, ensures all persons are in compliance with established policies.
- Patrolling the Campus - Patrols campus to prevent and detect criminal activity. Writes traffic warnings and incident reports for control of vehicle violations. Ensures appropriate equipment is in assigned vehicle, and maintains performance of protection vehicles to include cleaning, fluid levels and engine maintenance.
- Monitors/supports personal and departmental productivity to meet needs of department/Center, i.e. , flexing hours, shift changes, time off.
- Demonstrates responsible, dependable and reliable behavior by being present for work as scheduled. Adheres to attendance policy.
- Provides appropriate and detailed information in reports about incidents or concerns for quality monitoring thru the Electronic Health Record system, etc. Reports safety issues to be resolved as found around facility. Completes NetLearning and other employee training modules necessary for position to remain up to date on safety issues, procedures and processes. Demonstrates the ability to keep work area neat, clean and in compliance with RHS, DNV and State safety standards.
Qualifications
Education
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
- 1-3 years Prior experience with security in a health care or other setting (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
- Driver's License (Required)
