Job Objective:
The Psychiatric Program Specialist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats individuals with mental, emotional, and behavioral health disorders. The Psychiatric Program Specialist works as part of an interdisciplinary team to guide treatment and direct efficacy of psychiatric services.
Supervisor: Director of Outpatient Services
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prescribe, direct, or administer psychotherapeutic treatments and/or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders
- Analyze and evaluate patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder
- Collaborate, communicate, and consult with interdisciplinary departments (physicians, psychologists, mental health providers, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals) to discuss treatment plans and progress
- Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments
- Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals
- Provide E/M and psychotherapy services as needed
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory tests to identify and assess clients' clinical problems and health care needs
- Advise, educate, or inform clients, guardians, relatives, or significant others of patients' conditions or treatment
- Refer clients to specialized health resources for treatment
- Perform crisis intervention
- Review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists or medical professionals (peer reviews)
- Prepare and submit case reports or summaries to government or mental health agencies
- Work closely with Behavioral Health Coordinator for Outpatient Services to ensure appropriate workflows and psychiatric policies
- Attend treatment team meetings when necessary/appropriate (with advance notice
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Virginia PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) License
- Eligible for autonomous practice in Virginia
- Unencumbered DEA license required
- Self-motivated, directed, flexible and a team player
- Ability to chart daily visits in an EMR in a timely manner
- Positive attitude and customer service-oriented
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking-skills

Pay: $32,464.14 per year
