PUBLIC FUNDING ASSOCIATE
Starting Salary: $62,400 annually

POSITION OVERVIEW*
This position sits within the Public Funding department, a team that oversees all of HomeRise’s government funding sources. This includes pre-award proposal development, post-award grants management (including compliance and monitoring), and project management for these grants. Under the supervision of the Director of Public Funding, the Public Funding Associate provides technical, administrative, and compliance support for the agency’s public grants portfolio; tracks and maintains HomeRises’s training and other compliance documentation; and reconciles data to submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to funders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
- Attend meetings with City (and other funder) partners, coordinating with the Director of Public Funding to represent agency and resident needs to support systemic change for HomeRise residents.
- Work to provide pre-award and post-award grants support that moves money into HomeRise departments and services.
- Work directly with HomeRise’s frontline service departments in understanding and executing the complex regulatory and compliance requirements that accompany public funding so they can do so while maintaining their resident-oriented work.
- Help secure funding opportunities and tell the story of HomeRise to our funders by drafting and formatting applications, budgets, forms, reports, and other documents related to public grants.
- Provide project coordination support for grant applications including project tracking and document compilation.
- With the Director of Public Funding, share sensitive, complex information on grant finance, compliance, and other areas to staff and external stakeholders; interpret and apply this information to provide administrative and technical support to HomeRise teams and our partners.
- Create, manage, and maintain trackers for grants compliance, training, reporting, and other grants portfolio activities. Ensure trackers are up-to-date and compliant with the terms of HomeRise’s grant agreements.
- Source, update, and disseminate data related to grant applications or reporting, including ensuring data quality across multiple systems both internal and governmental
- Collaborate with the Learning and Evaluation team to establish data needs and timing, and to design and execute strategies for improving data quality and/or updating workflow processes.
- Update client profiles in the Coordinated Entry system regarding program enrollments, exits, releases of information, and other elements.
- Interpret and apply grant compliance requirements to the maintenance of paper and electronic files and other HIPAA-protected/legal documents.
- Draft correspondence, internal and external reports, presentation materials, meeting notes, and research reports; participate in internal and external opportunities to present and speak about public funding at HomeRise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION DETAIL*
- Location: Central Administrative Office at 251 Post Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA
- Status: Full-Time / Exempt
- Currently Hybrid / WFH
- Schedule: Generally, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Some earlier or later hours may be required intermittently.
- Reports to: Director of Public Funding
QUALIFICATIONS
*
A minimum of one to three years of administrative experience, preferably in the non-profit sector, required.
- Experience with nonprofit grants preferred, either in pre-award proposal writing or post-award grants management.
- Familiarity with federal grant regulations (for example, 2 CFR 200 and 45 CFR 75 and 578) or reading and interpreting legal or regulatory documents desired.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with a diverse group of staff located at multiple sites across San Francisco, and to work across departments and teams to get things done.
- Skilled in actively listening for information; able to communicate clearly to people with a wide variety of communication styles.
- Excellent computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, etc.; quick study and ability to navigate various data management systems and reporting tools.
- Proven track record working independently and as part of a larger team.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, follow-through, patience, and multi-tasking required.
- Understanding of confidentiality and experience working with sensitive or confidential documents.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion values and practices.
- Sensitivity to people experiencing homelessness and the issues of homelessness and recovery, and ability to work with people from diverse educational and personal backgrounds.
