You are passionate about improving people’s lives on a massive scale through the power of nutrition and technology. You are an excellent storyteller, adept at communicating to various audiences and can pitch your story in a way that compels action. You are empathetic towards journalists and identify opportunities to create press based on their needs. You understand the importance of creating long-term relationships with journalists and other media outlets and prioritize maintaining those relationships. You have demonstrated an ability to get major publications to pick up stories. You’re experienced in developing content from scratch and are a skilled editor, understanding the nuance of different channels and audiences. You love collaborating with like-minded teammates to find solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Create and build relationships with journalists, nationally and regionally, to maximize Foodsmart’s brand awareness, for both consumers and target client (e.g., health plans)
  • Develop publicity strategies (considering budget, timelines) to support newsworthy events including identifying multiple press opportunities to engage the relevant audiences
  • Create KPIs for publicity strategies, measure and report performance, and optimize future strategies
  • Write press releases and other materials for relevant press opportunities (e.g., new client launches)
  • Maintain strong relationships with journalists and media outlets, understand their needs, and identify opportunities for Foodsmart to help them
  • Be “in the know” about media trends, themes, or events as well as newsworthy Foodsmart initiatives so you can identify opportunities
  • Work with internal Foodsmart clinical and analytics team to leverage data to pitch stories
  • Identify new press opportunities (e.g., interviews, podcasts) and work with Foodsmart team members (such as CEO) to manage those initiatives
  • Represent Foodsmart publicly
  • Support content development for Foodsmart consumers to maximize brand awareness and drive consumer engagement/acquisition

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of PR experience (ideally in healthcare-related field)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Superior relationship management skills
  • PR management in a B2B, B2C, or B2B2C space
  • Proficiency in word processing software (Microsoft word, Google docs)
  • A growth mindset with a dedication and eagerness to learn
  • Strong project management and attention to detail
