Purchasing Specialist
Job description
40% Further develop and maintain a process for accurately and efficiently ensuring all R&D Planning and Purchasing requests are reviewed and executed in a timely manner. This includes project managing Planning and Purchasing requests by analyzing and reconciling open order reports. Individual will be responsible for working closely with end-users to develop a more efficient purchasing process where applicable through the assessment and possible implementation of additional standing orders.
30% Independently analyze and resolve or escalate issues regarding the status of requests. Develops collaborative relationships with the stake-holders they support and actively leads to alert the proper parties of any issues/delays in a timely manner. This includes reviewing all requests/orders for accuracy and working with the requestor to resolve any inquiries prior to executing the order.
15% Issue purchase orders and schedule all SPF and Medical Testing with external laboratories. This includes escalating issues and scheduling all R&D Medical Safety and SPF tests with the proper outside testing facilities based on turnaround and financial impact. This also includes generating, reviewing and compiling all administrative documentation associated with the testing itself.
10% Works closely with management to implement efficiencies for continued process improvement.
5% Additional departmental responsibilities as required.
Qualifications - External
- Experienced in a fast-paced environment and comfortable with change. Must demonstrate the learning agility to develop an efficient process with a focus on continual process improvement. This requires the individual to quickly learn the organizational structure with an intimate knowledge and understanding of the entire R&D organization.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to manage work stream independently. Must possess the ability to make problem solving decisions without guidance in a fast paced and time sensitive environment.
- Excellent computer skills required with a proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Project management capabilities a must in order to help drive the execution and implementation of efficient departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to work cross function, cross brand and with varying talent levels across the organization. Must demonstrate superior interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal to collaborate and communicate at all levels of the ELC organization on a global scale with focus on all functions in the R&D organization, globally.
- Proficient Project Management Skills with a focus on detail and follow up. Must be a detail oriented self-starter with the ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize workload as needed.
- Required to learn job related RDS and SAP modules and other key software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Strong attention to detail; highly organized.
