POSITION SUMMARY
Radiology Partners is seeking a Professional Radiology Assistant (PRA) to provide administrative / ancillary support to improve the Radiologist productivity. Primary support functions include serving as central point of contact on inbound calls for Radiologists, referring physicians, and technologists, connecting Radiologists with referring physicians, relaying urgent and non-urgent medical results to referring physicians and facilitating exam reading readiness for timely and efficient exam dictation by the radiologist. This position is high-paced, the incumbent should be prepared for changing priorities throughout each day. The individual must be highly energetic, solution driven and flexible in his/her interpersonal style. Outstanding communications skills in both written and verbal expression are required. The individual should be a self-starter, tenacious, and adept in using metrics to drive performance and motivated to succeed.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Triage, manage and direct incoming calls from referring physicians, technologists, and Radiologists within a call center environment
- Monitor system communication worklists and instant messaging requests - initiate appropriate action based on client guidelines to meet designated turnaround expectations documenting any action taken.
- Call referring physicians on behalf of the Radiologists to ensure results are provided to the appropriate health care professional assisting in timely patient care. This includes faxing of exam reports upon request
- Answer support calls from clients regarding exams, requests to speak to a radiologist, and status of outstanding exams.
- When requested, track down referring physicians and connect to the radiologist
- Respond to Radiologist requests for further exam preparation by facilitating exam readiness
- Upon request troubleshoot and resolve issues related to exams; Issues include missing information (images, reports, history)
- Document all communication and action taken on individual exams
- Escalate problem cases to client IT support team to ensure exams are read in a timely manner
- Understand radiology workflows, from the Technologist to the radiologist perspective
- Prioritize workload based on urgency of exams and urgency of requests
- Participate in downtimes and manually create orders
- Report information to next shift to assure consistent service to the customer
- Adjust work hours and/or workdays to assure appropriate coverage to meet client needs
- Perform other duties as assigned by displaying team spirit and self-growth, accepting projects and responsibilities
DESIRED TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree or relevant work experience in Radiology and/or Healthcare Information Technology preferred
- Help Desk or Call Center environment preferred
- Two years of health care experience in a hospital or outpatient office setting.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, presentation and negotiation
- Creative problem solving skills, showing an ability to overcome obstacles to ensure quick response
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
- Patience and ability to excel under pressure, handling multiple requests often with tight deadlines
- Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Work, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent customer service skills, both written and phone communication
- Follow written procedures to maintain consistent customer experience
- Excel in an environment with constant changes
