The Radiology Support Specialist serves as a resource for all radiology departments and affiliates using various imaging systems and software. The Specialist assists in the implementation and support of medical imaging applications, information systems, software and radiology daily workflow in all imaging departments. Maintains schedules, inventory and charges for assigned locations.

• Provides second level support as a local medical imaging subject matter expert, resolves incidents or fulfills requests; provides status on user issues.
• Provides technical training / delivers classes on radiology software applications and manual systems for physician office staff, radiologists, nurses, and new employees.
• Participates in testing and implementation of clinical applications where medical imaging applications or information systems integrate with clinical applications.
• Maintains order catalog; updates charges and CPTs as required. Requests order and charge builds as needed.
• Schedules patient procedures in the radiology system. Enters schedules, provides patient with correct information.
• Facilitates and coordinates physician orders, prior exams and reports, and system for scheduling future patients.
• Communicates and coordinates with patients, their families and staff regarding radiology procedures; makes pre-procedure and post-procedure calls to patients.
• Ensures that signed accurate orders are available for patients prior to their arrival.
• Orders supplies, enters charges, and updates families on patients’ status.
• Coordinates with charge/lead tech regarding add-ons, patients needing interventions and other emergencies.
• Maintains inventory and report system, performs periodic inventory. Maintains/restocks supplies, prepares reports and maintains unit records. Maintains supply of radiology materials, collaborates with vendors.
• Develops and adjusts PAR levels based on usage.
• Utilizes the HIS, RIS, PACS and communication systems. Monitors unreconciled lists, incomplete exam lists, unread study lists. Verifies exams are properly ordered and available for interpretation.
• Produces monthly and ad hoc reports.
• Investigates and performs patient combines in all downstream systems.
• Supports weekly radiologic medical conferences; works with Cancer Center staff to coordinate cases; monitors Outlook folders and conference submissions, notifies offices / physicians upon case submission.
• Compiles conference presentation packets for Radiologist. Maintains conference folder and records archives. Prints Radiology and Pathology cases and reports for physician review.

• High School or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of radiology information systems experience required.
• Organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Strong customer service, oral and written communication skills.
• Must have valid Florida driver’s license and ability to drive to assigned site to complete work.
