Summary

Lidl US is looking for a motivated Real Estate Acquisition Manager to join our DC/Maryland regional store expansion team. The Real Estate Acquisition Manager will work directly with regional and senior leadership to strategically manage the site selection and acquisition process for new Lidl store real estate sites. This includes market analysis, site identification and qualification, internal real estate committee approval packaging and negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, leases, ground leases and other associated contractual agreements. The Real Estate Acquisition Manager is responsible for successfully delivering new site acquisitions within the assigned territory.


**Telework Policy allows for up to 5 days of work from home a week depending on business needs and manager discretion**

What You’ll Do

  • Work with Director and senior leadership to develop strategy for submarkets and store spacing within a regional territory
  • Analyze markets within assigned territory to identify the best sites for Lidl US within assigned submarkets in order to fulfill the strategy and meet expansion goals
  • Gather, prepare, and present information, including market drives, to Director and Executives on proposed store site locations in order to obtain internal approvals
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with landowners, brokers, developers, potential business partners, and professional organizations to give Lidl the best positioning for deals
  • Manage, coordinate, administer, and negotiate the best deal, deal structure, and deal points for Lidl in all purchases, leases, ground leases, relocations, and expansions within assigned territory
  • Work with Development Manager and Construction Manager colleagues to understand local ordinances and zoning codes to determine development parameters and associated costs and risks
  • Develop, monitor, and report detailed budgets, schedules, and status on projects while maintaining and updating Lidl’s systems and programs routinely
  • Manage all activities and communications between stakeholders, consultants, and contractors in order to deliver site internal approvals and executed contracts within scheduled timeframes and budgets

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in related field
  • In lieu of degree, 8 - 10 years of relevant and related experience
  • Knowledge of Real Estate transactions from beginning to end with emphasis on market studying and acquisition, purchase and lease negotiation, real estate and contract law, real estate valuation, entitlement processes, and best practices of real estate project management
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Great negotiation skills with the ability to minimize Lidl’s costs and risks throughout projects
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to use project management, budget management, and other customized software systems and mapping/GIS software
