Recovery Residence Support Staff

Overview

Recovery Residence Support Staff provides peer support and structure to residents living in Amistad housing programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Direct Service

· Connect support and build relationships with residents throughout the shift.

· Ensure that house rules are being followed

· Provide crisis intervention as needed

· Maintain a working knowledge of the needs of women in early recovery and vulnerable populations (e.g., those experiencing substance use disorder, have histories of trauma, or are engaging in sex work)

· Respond to medical crisis including overdose

Communications

· Communicate incidents, shift duties etc. to Program Coordinator at close of each shift

· Report and update on community state, needs and resources to Amistad leadership for assessment and planning

Other General Responsibilities

· Participate in team meetings as needed or scheduled

Organizational Supports

· On call supervisory support

· Access to peer support and trainings as needed or requested.

Certifications and Licenses

Required: None

Preferred: Recovery Coach Certification or CIPS Certification

Required Knowledge and Competencies

· Understanding of and alignment with Amistad’s mission; peer support best practices; low-barrier service provision; harm reduction philosophy; social, racial and economic justice; and knowledge of populations served by all agency programs.

· Understanding of positive regard for individuals experiencing homelessness and/or living in poverty

· Understanding of multiple pathways to recovery, recovery resources etc.

Working Conditions

This position requires working in a residential setting.

This position requires working with individuals who may be under the influence of substances, exhibiting mental health symptoms, or present challenging behaviors. Medical and other emergencies may occur in the working environments, including substance overdoses, suicidal ideation and/or self-harm, physical and/or verbal violence; staff may need to contact emergency services for assistance with these events as needed.

Supervisor

The position reports to the Recovery Residence Program Coordinator.

We are seeking to fill multiple positions with varied availability. We welcome full and part-time applicants.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 per hour
