About the Role: We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, creative and hands-on leader to grow and build a scalable payroll function. In this role, you will be responsible for developing the overall strategic vision for the regional payroll function, as well as leading the day-to-day operations which include supporting international expansion efforts and overseeing payroll operations and compliance. You will develop strong cross functional relationships with HR, Tax, Legal, Accounting and Equity. You will also play a key role in the implementation and optimization of systems/processes, ensuring proper internal controls are in place.
This is a remote position, and you can work from home in most locations within the United States.*
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for Payroll operations while measuring and monitoring the effectiveness and efficiencies of the services provided
- Hire, lead, train and develop a team of payroll professionals
- Own and manage relationships with external payroll service providers
- Oversee payroll operations, including ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing, compliance with US and international tax requirements
- Direct and manage all aspects of payroll accounting in close partnership with Accounting, Treasury, and Financial Planning teams on monthly end close activities, including flux analysis and forecasting
- Ensure all payroll related tax filings are completed timely and accurately, including the creation of new accounts with various federal and state agencies as required; work with tax agencies and payroll service providers to resolve tax issues
- Lead and participate in all audits, including but not limited to third party audits such 401(k), Workers Comp as well as ad hoc requests
- Partner with the Stock Administration, Tax and People teams to manage stock-based compensation processing in payroll, including stock option exercises and RSUs to ensure payroll tax compliance
- Identify recommendations to scale processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency including the design and implementation of internal controls and maintain payroll policies and procedures
- Champion, role model, and embed Gore’s cultural principles as we scale globally
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in payroll, with strong knowledge of both U.S. and Americas regional payroll requirements
- Experience leading teams
- System implementation and outsourcing experience
- Strong knowledge of regional payroll compliance
- Have a growth mindset with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Motivated by leading in a matrix organization
- Obsesses over customers by providing excellent customer service
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and influencing skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Payroll or Financial certification preferred with equivalent experience
- ADP and PeopleSoft knowledge preferred
- Demonstrated organizational skills – resourceful, self-managed, high standard of accuracy and excellent follow-up skills
*Remote Working Arrangements are permitted for Associates in the continental United States (US) and Canada, with appropriate approval and compliance with Gore’s remote working policies, from the country in which they are employed. Locations not eligible for new remote work arrangements include: Alaska and Hawaii (for all roles), and Rhode Island (for wage/hourly roles only).
