Kentucky College Coaches is an AmeriCorps program serving Kentucky high school students since 2010! Our program model helps students increase their ACT scores, identify career goals, find scholarship money, and have a solid plan to guide them after high school. The evaluation of the program shows that students who spend time with a Kentucky College Coach go to college at a rate 16% higher than students who don’t have a coach. This program works - participating students are more prepared for college and careers!

Position Description:
The Kentucky College Coach will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community agencies to forge a pathway to enhanced preparedness for transition into post-secondary pathways. The primary focus of the position will center on implementing best practices in transition readiness, focusing on soft skills, and career pathways, building opportunities for curricular community engagement accessible to students across disciplines, and increasing community partnerships

Responsibilities:

• Work with students on Interest Inventories in partnership with NaviGo
• Work with students on the following *but not limited to: life skills interview skill resume building/writing application completion transition services.
• Utilize and engage students using the Life Centered Education (LCE) Transition Curriculum from CEC
• Increase community-based partnerships and opportunities for students
• Participate in potential grant writing to increase access to community engagement for RSP students and provide any assistance needed to administer funding to student programming.
• Coordinate data gathering and reporting for any grants or projects.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
• 1-5 years of experience in community-based learning, experiential learning, and community engagement is desired but not required

• Ability to operate effectively in collaboration with colleagues and community partners to advance social change

Dates: August 1, 2022 – May 31, 2023

Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday

Pay: $1,810 per month in living allowance, less FICA and other applicable taxes

Benefits: Healthcare and childcare eligibility, federal student loan forbearance eligibility, professional development, and an education award of $3247.50 and $6495.00 upon completing service (depending on the number of months of service).
