The Same Day Center/Pre-Operative nurse demonstrates the ability to function within all areas of the Same Day Center and Pre-Operative Clinic as assigned. The staff nurse provides direct and indirect care to Veterans and their families while they are receiving care in the Same Day Center or Pre-Operative Clinic through collaborative strategies with nursing, physicians, providers and other disciplines. Responsibilities may include caring for Veterans receiving care for surgery or procedures from all surgical specialties to include but not limited to ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Podiatry, Vascular, Neurology, General Surgery, Plastics and Orthopedics.
The nurse will provide care for patients from a wide range of locations within the hospital setting to include but not limited to Radiology department and Gastroenterology department. Responsibilities include direct care to a diverse patient population based upon assessment, planning and implementation of appropriate nursing intervention and documentation. Other responsibilities may include providing patient education, overseeing patient flow through the surgical or procedural process, peripheral IV insertion, obtaining labs, performing EKGs and responding to emergencies. In the Peri-Operative Clinic, the nurse works in collaboration with Anesthesia Services/Provider by seeing Veterans for an appointment who need optimized for surgery.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $92,838.00 - $154,770.00 per year
