Remote Sensing Specialist

Basic Functions & Key Differentiators:

• Execute field operations, operate and maintain sensors, and process sensor data
• Train junior and new staff on sensor/program procedures, includes generating and maintain SOPs
• Verify/validate sensors work correctly
• Adjust surveying instruments to maintain their precision
• Supervise and ensure care of equipment
• Prepare reports and simulations
• Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
• Expected to travel 3-4 weeks at a time with a willingness to extend to 5 weeks or more

Degree & Certification Requirements:

• BA/BS Degree in a geomatics related field and minimum of five (5) years applied field experience, or an applicable MA/MS degree and three (3) years of experience
• FAA Part 107 Certification
• ASPRS Certified Mapping Technologist (Remote Sensing, Lidar or Photogrammetry)

Years of Experience:

• 3-5 years

Critical Skills at Proficiency:

• Intermediate data management (field and office)
• Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, outlook, teams, etc.)
• Shipping and receiving
• Creating help tickets
• Installing and removing sensors from aircraft (hand tools and cabling)
• Intermediate software and hardware troubleshoot
• Domestic and international travel (plane, train, car, etc.)
• Setting up computers, monitors and routers
• Processing GPS and position data and generating from raw to final data products
• Networking 3-5 computers and storage devices together
• Prioritize survey areas based on multiple variables with and/or without client input
• Intermediate sensor and data troubleshooting

• Coordinating deployment logistics (rental cars, hotel, flights)
• Preflight collaboration and preparations with pilots (weather, ATC, survey priorities, etc.)
• Training new staff on sensor install, removal and operations
• Manage technician level staff’s daily tasking
• Take on Site Lead role and responsibilities as needed
