The Aging Brain Center (ABC), based at Marcus Institute for Aging Research, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, is looking for a highly motivated individual to support their dynamic research team. This is an ideal position for an individual who wants to work and learn in a cutting edge research environment with the goal to improve the quality of life of older adults and their families. The Research Assistant will work with the research team under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI, Dr. Sharon Inoue) and Project Director (Dr. Eva Schmitt). She/he will play a critical role in the conduct of several multi-site studies and will oversee daily study activities. Intensive training will be provided. The successful candidate must have the ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet study deadlines. She/he must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, able to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have good problem-solving skills, be able to provide leadership to the team when required, and oversee the work of research assistants in the field.
- Complete administrative study related tasks
- Complete special projects as assigned by the study leadership
- Support the preparation of study protocols and materials
- The above covers the most significant responsibilities of the position. It does not, however, exclude other duties, which would be in conformity with the level of the position.
- College degree (4 years)
- Must have the ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize tasks, develop work flow, and meet study deadlines; must have ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary team
- Must have a driver’s license and own a car (standard NIA mileage reimbursement provided).
- Ability to drive to patient’s home in the greater Boston area.
- Experience in neuropsychological testing a plus.
- Must enjoy and value working with older adults
- Must have experience with training and supervising staff
- Must be able to maintain and sustain confidentiality at all times.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
- Availability for weekend coverage activities on rare selected weekends (appropriate time off the following week provided)
- Must have excellent writing skills.
- Must have good problem-solving skills, be able to provide leadership to the team when required, and oversee the work of research assistants in the field.
- Must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and be an independent performer with the ability to follow directions.
- Must demonstrate flexibility in regards to center’s demands and new technologies. Must be highly adaptable to competing deadlines and changes in priorities.
- Must have demonstrated knowledge using Word, Excel, and electronic data collection tools.
- Must have the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and be able to trouble-shoot technical problems with field data acquisition, data transfer, and data validation.
- Must demonstrate respect and professionalism regarding subjects’ rights, individual needs, and a working knowledge of HIPAA Protected Health Information regulations.
