Applicants are invited to apply for a Research Associate position in the McDonnell lab. We study glaucoma physiology and pathology using techniques that span molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, physiology, biomedical engineering and aqueous humor outflow fluidics. Our lab is part of the new Alan S. Crandall Center for Glaucoma Innovation at the Moran Eye Center. We believe in collaborative science and there will be many opportunities to work with other researchers and take advantage of the many resources here. We will provide state-of-the-art technical resources and comprehensive mentoring in the Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences department which is ranked among the nation’s top 10 with an active basic and translational vision science community. The Moran Eye Center holds regular educational seminars.

Applicants should be self-motivated, able to work independently towards the lab’s research goals, have good communication skills, and evidence of management and leadership skills. Candidates are expected to design and conduct research, write grants and papers, attend conferences, and assist with the administrative aspects of the lab’s day-to-day running.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
  • Candidates will report directly to the Principal Investigator
  • Design and conduct experiments to achieve research goals
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills; present research at national meetings and author manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
  • Collaborate with other laboratory personnel to execute aims of grants
  • Aid in the administrative aspects: necessary reports, lab safety, etc.
