Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Coordinator I for the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT). The position reports to the Business Manager for the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT), and working independently with broadly defined work objectives of the Center’s programs.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Focus on project management and the oversight of select sponsored projects for from federal, state and local agencies.
  • Responsible for executing the subrecipient monitoring processes, confirming that subrecipients performance goals are achieved, and will have authority to take direct actions to make changes to procedures when necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for the budget planning/forecasting, close out, and financial reporting for assigned sponsored projects; and serves as the main point of contact for reconciliations, close-outs, and financial reporting with the Research Financial Services (RFS).
  • Expected to bear accountability for the business planning, management and success of the Center’s research programs.
  • This position will have robust collaboration and problem-solving skills and will provide seasoned guidance on compliance issues as well as key financial and operational best practices.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general business/contracting principles and practices.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in a financial/accounting/research contracting function.

  • The ability to research, compile data and formulate reports and deliverables on a consistent and timely basis are critical.
  • Must be able to think broadly and conceptually and formulate creative, solutions to complex problems, prioritize workload, and work independently with general supervision.

  • Previous interaction with transportation agencies such as NJDOT, FHWA; active participation with related professional organizations (leadership positions); previous interaction with transportation agencies

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same.
