South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is seeking a Research Scientist II in the Department of Chemistry, Biology, and Health Sciences. This is a benefited, full-time position. A Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or similar field is required. A PhD within the Biological Sciences, or similar field is preferred.
This position involves a variety of research projects in aquatic ecology, rangeland management, biogeochemistry, and contaminant research particularly PFAS. The research scientist will utilize the R software environment for statistical computing and graphics and help mentor students in data analytics. The ideal applicant will have significant experience with freshwater ecosystems, statistical analysis software, spatial statistics, and programing. The Research Scientist II is expected to perform independent research, mentor junior group members, present work at scientific meetings, and prepare scientific publications. Through this position, the research scientist will gain skills in modeling complex ecosystem processes, collaborating with state and federal agencies and nongovernmental organizations, and opportunities for professional development.
