This position will function as a team member and direct the packaging activities of an entire crew. This position includes but is not limited to the machine operation, quality attribute inspection, and leadership of a packaging team. Takes complete responsibility for the product quality, resource utilization, operational efficiency and employee safety within the assigned packaging room. Assist supervisor to ensure that all processes utilized, and products packaged conform to customer and Company standards and specifications.

  • Responsible for verifying that all systems and processes are compliant with Work Instructions and Company requirements in order to begin and/or finish production activities within a specified room or rooms. Throughout production conduct attribute inspections, asset verifications and component delivery and removals according the requirements outlined in the associated Batch Record or MPR.
  • Ability to perform various tasks to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot a variety of assigned machines and will also be responsible for inspecting components to specifications. Operates production machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates supervisory instruction to employees.
  • Get machines started efficiently and ensures reliable packaging throughout operations.
  • Verify components issued against the work order to the packaging line.
  • Assists with restocking the line.
  • Verify all required entries in the batch record, including daily room checks, challenges, etc. Verify the accuracy, completeness and supported documentation of the packaging requirements outlined below and ensure all are supported by the appropriate documentation within the Batch Record.
  • Maintain line/area in an orderly and safe manner while maintaining GMPs.
  • Notify supervisor with personnel issues.
  • Observe and assist in packaging operations for optimum performance.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Assist supervision with reporting the production performance metrics.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Responsible for training the designated peers as a replacement.
  • Adherence to and enforcement of GMP compliance, performing Quality inspections (equipment challenges and verification, components, bulk product, work-in-process and finished goods) related to contract packaging, reviewing documentation and verifying component attributes.
  • Responsible for performing quality inspections as required per the packaging record and per AQL requirements. Inspections may include visual, functional, destructive and count checks.
  • Ability to operate a variety of machines and maintain quality of packaging within assigned area.
  • Clears jams, change labels, replaces ribbons, films, tape, neck band material, cotton and makes adjustments accordingly.
  • Records necessary date as required on all machine logs, downtime reports, and material yield logs.
  • Checks quality Lot# Exp Date of packages in assigned room and assists with equipment challenges.
  • Reads and understands Human Machine Interface screens and alarms.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for notifying production supervisors of performance, policy and personnel issues, but not accountable for enforcement of policy.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience within a manufacturing or similar assembly process preferred.
  • Good documentation and communication skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with spreadsheets, word processing and database are required.
  • General knowledge of quality control processes is desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
