JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:

Safety Manager

JOB REPORTS TO:

Director of Operations

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees

BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience working with and managing Drug and Alcohol programs through Third Party Administrators (TPA).
  • 5+ years of experience managing workers compensation claims and their policies.
  • 5+ years of experience with Contractor and Supplier Information Management such as ISNetworld, NCMS and/or Avetta.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines.
  • Extensive attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards.
  • Ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures.
  • Good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Good organizational, leadership, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to recognize when safety conditions need improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks especially when handling an accident or incident.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

BASIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at project site locations.
  • Provides executive management with guidance on health and safety.
  • Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
  • Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.
  • Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures.
  • Evaluate health and safety practice and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines.
  • Conduct accident prevention training and health and safety training.
  • Inspect equipment for unsafe workplace conditions.
  • Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents.
  • Handle worker's compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident
  • Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for safety issues.
