Job Description

Located in Pocatello, ID and reporting to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, the Safety Programs Coordinator oversees safety programs for the Environmental Health and Safety Department. Key responsibilities include:

• Develop, implement, review and evaluate safety programs, plans and procedures
• Lead safety programs including but not limited to hazardous energy control, hot work and shop safety
• Prepare professional reports with findings and corrective actions
• Utilize continuous improvement principles in all EHS responsibilities
• Cultivate a positive culture of safety by role modeling safe behavior and a demonstrated commitment to safety
• Respond to off-hours emergencies

Minimum Qualifications

• Four years of experience in environmental, health and safety or a bachelor’s degree
• Ability to interpret laws and regulations to assist with University compliance
• Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in unusual or new situations
• Strong communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with environmental health and safety in a college or university setting

Additional Information

Salary will be between $55,000 to $58,500 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
