Job Summary

The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment department of Horticulture is looking for an enthusiastic individual with management skills and experience conducting research broadly related to agriculture, human health, and the gut microbiome. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the development/management of bioethics applications for projects involving human samples and/or pathogenic microorganisms. The candidate should also have experience with the handling and disposal of human samples and microorganisms, managing complex databases (related to samples, donors, and data), working in a BSL2 laboratory and/or acting as an honest broker. The scientist must understand the importance for project and donor confidentiality and possess good communication skills.

To be successful in this position the post holder will need to have prior experience conducting research in at least one of the following areas: the human gut microbiome, in vitro colon model systems, in vitro food digestion, fermentation science, microbial adaptation/evolution, next generation sequencing, and/or the integration of multi-omics datasets.
