Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The SCIPSEC Coordinator will coordinate outreach and data collection activities to support inclusive postsecondary education programs in South Carolina.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in special education, higher education, rehabilitation counseling, disability studies, non or other relevant field, and a minimum of one years’ experience working with inclusive postsecondary education programs and students with intellectual disability is required. Must be able to travel regionally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in in special education, higher education, rehabilitation counseling, disability studies, non or other relevant field, and a minimum of three years’ experience working with inclusive postsecondary education programs and students with intellectual disability. Must be able to travel regionally as needed. Directed/managed a college program for students with ID and collaborated/consulted with other programs, ideally experience with engaging with a state and/or regional alliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities in higher education, related issues and supports.
  • Knowledge of and field-based experience with inclusive postsecondary program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Understanding of state and federal policies impacting inclusive postsecondary education.
  • Knowledge of and experience with state or regional alliances in inclusive postsecondary education.
  • Knowledge of strategies for communication to audiences within and external to the university and the school.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, to take initiative and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
