Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Surgical Technician (Scrub Tech) to join our operating team!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The surgical technician plays a key role in the success and safety of operations at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. The individual in this role will provide surgeons with the necessary sterile instruments and supplies during procedures and assists in patients’ care, preparation and endoscopic procedures ahead of surgery. The technician must maintain the surgical field through aseptic practices and help order supplies and equipment for the operating room as needed. This position is part of the perioperative team and works under the supervision of the Surgery Clinical Team Leader.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setting up equipment, supplies, and the sterile field ahead of surgery according to physicians’ preference
  • Ensuring the sterility of supplies and instruments during surgery
  • During surgical procedures passes instruments to surgeon and assistant, knows location of all supplies and specimens, stay attentive and maintains a willingness to help
  • With the proper training and when requested by a surgeon, assisting physician with injection of local and closure of body plane
  • Performs job duties in line with the surgical services department’s policies and procedures and AST Standards of Practice

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician Program.
  • Certification as a surgical Technologist.
  • Current BLS required
  • Operating room experience preferred. Neurologic and cardiovascular experience preferred.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to rapidly changing workloads due to changes in the surgery census. Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments.
