Stonemill Consulting, LLC is a technology consulting firm that specializes in helping clients maximize the return on their technology investments. We are seeking qualified Scrum Master candidates to assist clients in leading Agile projects. The ideal candidate will have a background in agile software development and agile best practices.


The Scrum Master has the following duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Guides and coaches the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Responsible for ensuring the team adheres to Scrum theory, practices, and guidelines.
  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, and domain knowledge.
  • Communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
  • Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational projects or product teams.
  • Resolves team impediments to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Program Scrum Planning.
  • Identifies methods to gain insight and feedback from members as well as other business partners that are external to the organization.
  • Delivers high quality products to end users in alignment with company vision.
  • Keeps abreast of new technical and business trends and changes by reading publications and attending workshops and other systems and applications related training.
  • Serves as a quality team member who uses effective listening techniques, solves problems creatively, responds to unscheduled requests, is enthusiastic about work, and is a positive role model.


Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer technology or other closely related field preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Masters of Business Administration (MBA), PMI-Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (PMI-DASM) or PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) preferred.
  • Three to five years of similar or related systems experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum, Agile, and SAFe methodologies.
  • Experience in property and casualty insurance industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Experience with SQL, reporting, and data visualization preferred.

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience in managing multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and have the capability to manage and change priorities as needed to accomplish company objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills required for effective communication at the staff, peer, and executive levels of the organization, along with vendors and other contacts while managing a project.
  • Good analytical, oral communication and written documentation skills.
  • Strong follow-through skills.
  • The ability to work independently and in team environments.
