SECONDARY INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT (bilingual preferred)

Responsible To: School Principal or designee

Work Year: 10 Months

Salary: $17.43 - $19.21 per hour; ($20.17 with BA Degree)

Bilingual Salary: $18.31 - $20.18; ($21.19 with BA Degree)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Secondary Instructional Assistant/Bilingual Secondary Instructional Assistant performs a variety of duties under the direct supervision of the School Principal or designee.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Assists with classroom instruction in college preparatory coursework including advanced levels of math and English
2. Works successfully with secondary students including those with limited English language development and special educational needs.

3. Implements lesson plans developed by certificated teachers.
4. Works successfully both with individual students and groups of students .
5. Communicates directly with classroom teacher to insure that the student is mastering core curriculum.
6. Prepares and delivers various tutorial sessions.
7. Uses computers and instructional software for instructional purposes.

8. Assists with student data collection and organizes materials and paperwork as assigned.
9. Provides campus supervision and utilizes student behavior management strategies needed.
10. Translates for a variety of purposes both oral and written as needed (if bilingual).
11. Provides cafeteria supervision as assigned.
12. Related duties as deemed necessary by School Principal or Designee.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum High school diploma/GED. AA or beyond highly desirable.
2. Must pass a Roseland School District’s Secondary Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test prior to employment to demonstrate ability to assist college bound high school students or possess an A.A. or higher or 48 units at an accredited institution of higher learning.

3. Must demonstrate fluency in English and a specific language of District need (if bilingual).
4. Department of Justice and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
5. Negative tuberculin test / risk assessment
6. Experience supervising and instructing secondary students is desirable.
7. Experience in working with English language learners is desirable.
8. Good interpersonal skills; friendly, positive and cooperative with all staff.

9. First Aid certification required.

10. CPR certification desired.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.43 - $21.19 per hour
