MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum high school diploma

2. 6-month experience as a telephone operator, receiving and/or transmitting telephone, radio, or alarm system calls is preferred

3. Data entry skills required

4. Ability to process emergency calls and initiate an appropriate response

5. Ability to work flexible shifts and be available to report in emergency situations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and initiate an appropriate response.

2. Dispatch on the MPS Security radio system

3. Monitor MPS Transportation radio system

4. View MPS CCTV system and keep appropriate Security personnel apprised of all illegal and/or suspicious activity

5. Monitor all MPS Fire and intrusion alarms and initiate an appropriate response to alarm activations

6. Communicate emergency situations to e-911 operator and arrange for the appropriate law enforcement, fire or medical response

7. Receive non-emergency calls and provide an appropriate response or refer to the appropriate MPS employee or department

8. Document all activity as directed by the immediate supervisor

9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

BEGINNING SALARY: $30,682.00-upon approval

WORK TERM: 12 months
