Western Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is Tennessee's third largest State mental health hospital located in Bolivar Tennessee and has been serving 24 counties in West Tennessee since 1889. Hospitalizations are on a voluntary or involuntary basis, or patients can also be referred by the court system for pre-trial evaluations. The hospital offers 2 short-term care units, 4 long-term care units, and therapeutic treatment units for a total of 150 beds. This facility is an approved HRSA Nurse Corps site. Eligible candidates may qualify to participate in the HRSA Nurse Corps loan repayment program.

Security Guard 1 Responsibilities :

• Controls entrance and exit of individuals by checking for identity, purpose of visit and authorization
• Searches for and apprehends missing or unauthorized individuals
• Responds to calls and takes appropriate action to assist in emergency situations
• Provides information to supervisor by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person to advise of any security concerns
• Patrols facilities, monitors alarms, and utilizes audiovisual and security systems (e.g., TV monitors) to check for security, hazards, disturbances, and violations of rules or regulations
• Operates patrol and transport vehicles to complete security patrols or transport valuables and individuals.
• Operates two-way radios and other communications devices to accomplish security tasks
• Prepares and maintains records such as incident reports, vehicle citations, logs of visitors and others, and personal property reports
• Communicates with law enforcement agencies to report incidents, provide information, and/or request assistance

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED certificate

Other Requirements:

• This position requires a pre-employment criminal background check and pre-employment drug testing.

• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays

Shifts Available:

• 1st: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
• 2nd: 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm
• 3rd: 10:30 pm - 7:00 am
