Job description
The Security Officer manages building access for personnel, residents, guests, visitors and support agencies through
proper identification processes. Also assists residents’ use of parking and security access devices.
Responsibilities:
- Provides outstanding customer service with a positive demeanor for residents and guests.
- Obtains appropriate training in emergency procedures; participates in in-service education sessions.
- Orients and schedules security staff.
- Advises Facility Director of security personnel performance status; assists Director as needed to maintain their performance at acceptable levels
- Monitors parking locations for residents and staff; assists guests and contractors with parking arrangements as directed.
- Maintains and implements personnel badges for entire community workforce, including taking digital pictures, processing photos through the ID badge system and printing necessary information on community badges.
- Maintains an up-to-date list of all contractors, emergency personnel and vendors that enter the facility.
- Provides garage door openers to residents; collects these when residents move out of the facility.
- Occasionally arranges Criminal Record Clearances for new employees at the request of the Director of Facility.
- Provides incident reports to the Director of Facilities or Administration.
- Ensure that security equipment is maintained in an operating condition; advises manager of concerns.
- Maintains and follows current security policies and procedures.
- Wears business dress during working hours.
- Assists in investigating incidents and accidents; recommends steps to minimize security/safety risks and future incidents or accidents.
- May be required to drive residents to and from appointments and events as needed. (not Class B)
- Must be able to function independently and with personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, guests, visitors and support agencies.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of the security program.
- Must be able to speak, read and write proficiently in the English language.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to cross train in all related functions.
- Ability to operate Windows-based computer systems & programs.
- Two years’ minimum security experience
- Previous law enforcement or military background a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR/first aid certification
- Must complete and pass a physical examination with tuberculosis (TB) screen prior to employment.
- Employment contingent upon fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice.
