manage physical security for a designated location. This encompasses leading and managing the
delivery and direction of the enterprise-wide security program and implementation through cross-
functional collaboration and cooperation..
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Security Manager will be responsible for the overall implementation of the security strategy at adesignated facility. They will focus on physical security of the facility, assets, and employees as well as performing risk and threat assessments. They will also be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve and enhance the overall risk profile of the location. They will directly support security operations and emergency response, as well as participate in improving the consistency and effectiveness of security and safety. This position will plan, direct, and coordinate activities relating to the security of company assets, crisis management, and supervision of corporate security staff. The position will develop procedures and directives to achieve strategic andbusiness performance objectives.
- Responsible for the overall safety and security of the Birmingham, AL facility.
- Manage, coordinate, and supervise the duties of the contract security force to include
- supervisors and reception staff to ensure complete working coverage.
- Investigate internal and external reports of incidents relating to all security issues, including threat management, misconduct, theft, fraud, and due diligence cases that occur at either of the two facilities.
- Maintain and direct that proper procedures are followed in response to recorded incidents.
- Prepare routine special written reports. Maintain security logs and inventory of security equipment (radios, keys, disaster kits, AED’s, first aid kits.).
- Administration and proactive monitoring of all security and emergency communication dashboards (real-time risk, mass communication, threat monitoring, building services).
- Responsible for supply management, invoice processing, expense reporting, payroll, staff scheduling, and overtime allocation.
- Oversee all facets of security access control, digital audits, sensitive investigations, and employee terminations.
- Work with security vendors to maintain and update the facility security systems as needed.
- Responsibility to direct an effective response to emergency situations and conduct preparedness drills and exercises regularly.
- Prepare and conduct security related training programs such as workplace violence, emergency preparedness and protection of assets.
- Maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external groups including local, state, and federal law enforcement, intelligence, and other related government agencies.
- Serve as a backup for other Security managerial staff.
- Bachelor's degree in business, criminal justice, public safety, emergency management, or
- related discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and
- experience would be considered..
- A minimum of 5+ years of strong Law Enforcement, Corporate Security, or Military
- experience with increasing responsibility.
- Experience within a wide range of Corporate Security disciplines, including physical security,
- security operations, executive protection, safety, and crisis response.
- A solid understanding of core physical security risks and threats, and experience in
- developing effective and measurable programs.
- Experience in a leadership role leading diverse teams, initiatives, or projects to meet
- business or organization objectives and influence change.
- Ability to develop, brief, implement and instruct others on security requirements and
- Standard Operating Procedures.
- Must have effective, proven ability in decision making, problem solving, and influencing
- others.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and project management skills.
- Must be adept at interacting with all levels of an organization, from administrative to senior
- executive staff.
- Ability to present analysis with clarity and professionalism; must be comfortable interacting with senior level management and portraying a strong professional image.
- Independent, self-starter, with a strong work ethic, high degree of motivation and the ability to contribute to a positive team culture, proven dedication to teamwork, leadership, and integrity within a professional environment.
- Excellent planning, coordination, time management, and organization skills.
- Proficient in vendor management including identification, negotiation, procurement, and project management
- Technology oriented; high understanding of security systems including, CCTV, access control and security incident management software.
- Ability to work varying times of the day and night to supervise events and security staff.
- Ability to be discreet and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Industry related certifications such as CPP, PCI, PSP, or APP a plus.
- Applicant must pass the pre-screening process including a background investigation.
- Any training needed, licenses, and certifications will be 100% compensated.
Essential Physical & Mental Functions:
- Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.
- Stand or walk constantly during events when needed.
- Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties.
- Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using
- the phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks.
- Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact
- with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination.
- Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or
- heat.
- Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and
- following up on assignments.
- Must be willing to follow the chain of command and established security procedures.
- Must be able to handle the pressure of working with a high-volume general public (ranging
- from constant to occasional, depending on assignment).
