Summary: RWJ Security Managers are instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors by being confident, leading, communicating effectively, monitoring performance, motivating staff and offering recognition. Security Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the Security department and their actions which include monitoring and patrolling our facilities. A Security Manager demonstrates exceptional Leadership skills, and customer service while providing direction to the Security Staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Effectively communicates, using oral and written methods so subordinates know how to complete assignments and visitors clearly understand the directions.
• Uses Critical thinking skills to quickly observe a situation and formulate and direct the appropriate response.
• Managing the protection of life, property, information and reputation by employing situational awareness; monitoring and securing designated entrances/exits; observing flow of employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors into the facility; verifying credentials and providing directions to authorized areas.
• Interviewing of candidates for Security employment,
• Payroll and scheduling processing.
• Manage the appropriate response to emergency/unusual situations including disturbances, disruptive employees, patients, vendors & visitors, fires and medical emergencies (i.e. including, but not limited to restraining agitated patients in accordance to System policy).
• Investigate incidents, prepare and submit all required documentation according to RWJBH policies and procedures.
• Control and regulate pedestrian and vehicle traffic, when volume and events require, in an orderly and safe manner.
• Enforce facility access control policy and parking regulations.
• Operate and maintain facility vehicles in accordance with regulatory and policy requirements.
• Provide safety escorts and assistance to employees, patients and visitors.
• Implement Policy, and mentors employees.
• Review, maintain and prepare incident reports and other documents pertaining to Security issues, incidents and complaints.
• Conducts Investigations as directed by Corporate Security; accepts special assignments as required.
• A security Manager is responsible for the supervision and staff, monitors mentors and educates the security staff on the proper Security operational policies and procedures.
• Takes lead as needed during all hospital emergencies: maintains communication with members of staff at all times. Ensures that the daily activities of Security tours, posts, and assignments are carried out as required; assigns responsibilities as necessary.
• Monitors and troubleshoots electronic systems, surveillance equipment and reports any incidents. Any other duty as needed.
• Creates emergency response procedures based on Corporate Standards.
• Conducts evaluations.
• Creates or implements security standards, polices, and procedures.
• Monitor and ensure a sound, ethical environment.
• Monitor organizational compliance with regulations.
• Trains subordinate security professionals or other organization members in security rules and procedures.
• Develop budgets for security operations.
• The ability to Operate with a high degree of integrity, autonomy and authority while working within the framework of RWJBarnabas Health philosophy and policies.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• One (1) year customer service or security experience or prior law enforcement, military service strongly preferred
• Valid New Jersey Driver s License (eligible to be covered by RWJBH insurance carrier)
• Keyboarding/data entry skills; experience with Microsoft Office
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. verbal, written)
• Bilingual (dependent upon facility) strongly preferred
• Handle with Care (Best) course completion within sixty (60) days from date of hire
