The Self-Help Housing Group Worker is responsbile for recruiting applicants and assisting with processing their applications to USDA Rural Development witwh the ultimate goal of having qualified groups ready to begin construction at all times.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following; Explains the Self-Help Housing Program to applicants including labor requirements and ultimate homeowner/mortgage responsibilities. Recruits interested participants which includes outreach efforts through community meetings, exhibits at area functions, civic presentations, news media, religious and educational organizations, etc.

Assists applicants in pre and final applications. Obtains verification of income and employment, and credit reports. Assist with locating and obtaining site options, house plan selections and site/hours orientation. Act as the coordinator between USDA Rural Development and the Grantee. Attend and assist with pre-construction and construction meetings with families involved in or applying for the SHH Program.

Recruit certified eligible applicants to meet the goal of the program. Submit completed applications to USDA Rural Development for review and processing in a timely manner. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
