POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing various accounting functions, including Officer Taxes and Payroll for Territory Headquarters.

Payroll Responsibilities

  • Maintain and process Vehicle Mileage Log
  • Process 1099 for Retired Officer’s & W2s for Active Officer’s
  • Creating Payroll Reports

Officer Tax Responsibilities

  • Process Qtrly Tax Grants for active Officer’s
  • Process SE's
  • Keep track & update Tax codes
  • Keep track & update Policies and procedures for Officer Taxes in the Territory
  • Ensured Tax rates are updated in the tax system annually
  • Abide by current Tax Laws
  • Handle Tax Questions including Discrepancies - from Officer's/Staff
  • Maintain Tax Files for all officers including (Active Officers, Cadets, Post Retired etc.)
  • Prepare Tax files for payment to the IRS
  • Develop process and procedure in Qtrly communications with Officers

Accounting Responsibilities – ARC Accounting

  • Tradewest Monthly posting
  • Bruin (telecom billing) – Monthly journal and accrual
  • Review and post ARC intercompany transactions with THQ
    • Insurance – Property and Vehicle
    • Monthly Reserve – Journal
    • Program funding – Journal
    • Divisional – ARC bill backs

Equipment Used

  • Personal Computer in a Network Environment
  • 10 Key - Touch

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • MS Word and Outlook – good written communication skills. Able to complete basic business correspondence with proper etiquette and grammar.
  • MS Excel – familiar with the use of spreadsheets and excel formula and calculations.
  • Experience with Shelby a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, adaptable, work well with a team and able to handle confidential matters with discretion.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with Accounting or Finance concentration
  • 10 years of Accounting, Bank Reconciliation, General Ledger knowledge, Reporting

Required
  • 10 year(s): Accounting, Bank Reconciliation, General Ledger knowledge, Reporting

Education

Preferred
  • Bachelors or better in Business Administration or related field
