Job Description*
PURPOSE OF POSITION: *The Senior Accounting/Finance position will be responsible for supporting the CFO in leading Executive Affiliate transitions, closure, phase-outs and change management processes while providing high level accounting and financial analysis support as needed within the division. With supervision by the CFO, the Senior Accountant/Analyst EA Transition Support will play a key role in ensuring EA Transitions and other Accounting and Finance projects and change initiatives meet organizational objectives, timelines, compliance, and budgetary goals. S/he will provide support for key Accounting and Finance departments, programs and projects especially in areas of EA transition, closure, and transformation. The Senior Accountant/Analyst EA Transition Support will play a key role in ensuring EA transitions and closure meet all organizational objectives on time, on budget, within stringent parameters ensuring compliance with local accounting standards and laws as well as US GAAP, minimizing risk, and meeting organizational finance and people/culture objectives. A key responsibility will be to keep all stakeholders abreast of change plans, progress, risks, and associated organizational implications on an ongoing basis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform a range of complex and senior-level financial statement analyses, flux and account analyses, including receivables, advances, accruals, deferred liabilities.
- Perform cashflow forecasts and balance sheet forecasts
- Provide accounting/finance support to regional office finance staff and the change management team.
- Review account analyses prepared by regional office finance staff for completeness and reconcile to GL
- Participate in monitoring of accounting control procedures and ensure compliance with established policy.
- Ensure all financial transactions are completed with high degrees of accuracy, in full compliance with requirements, and within established timelines.
- Prepare required journal entries and account reconciliations and resolve variances using professional concepts and established policies and procedures.
- Work with external auditors, tax and legal advisors needed; prepare audit schedules, provide explanations of schedules and related variances if any.
- Work on special projects as assigned.

- This position is deemed to be confidential and requires a high degree of confidentiality and sensitivity due to the nature of the assignment concerning the closure and transition of the Executing Affiliate country offices. This position, in collaboration with the allied positions in HR and IT, will work in a confidential capacity to assist the SLT in formulating, determining, and effectuating management policies for employee and labor relations within each country and region and the development of employee policies and procedures for these transitions and closures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent education in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Three to five years progressively responsible work experience as a Senior Accountant/Analyst.
- Ability to analyze the balance sheet and to forecast cashflows.
- Significant experience in accrual accounting, project accounting, preparation of financial statements and forecasts, as well as audit coordination.
- Mastery in Excel and Powerpoint.
- Ability to work independently, to work under pressure, prioritize work and to meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to work accurately and to present analyses in a clear concise manner.
- Ability to identify system, process and policy issues and make recommendations for and implement solution(s).
- Excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with not-for-profit accounting.
- Experience with international organizations
- CPA or MBA
Exempt / Non-union / Band G - $70,000 - $105,000
