The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to manage our accounts payable function that will help process, review, and/or approve a large volume of inventory purchasing and other overhead costs across many branches and corporate. This position requires an experienced professional who can maintain accounting policies, document procedures, and help drive new processes as we scale.
The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist must exhibit a can-do attitude and approach work with vigor and determination. You must have a keen interest in being a part of a fast-paced growth organization and have the drive to learn quickly, lean in where needed, and be a bit of a perfectionist along the way.
To succeed in this role, you must be able to take initiative, work independently, adapt to change easily, pay attention to details, and be able to analyze data, identify issues, and works towards a solution.
The Day-to-Day
As a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist, you will:
- Continue to build out the Accounts Payable function by creating processes and implementing internal controls that will scale as the company grows
- Approve vendor invoices daily to ensure accurate coding, purchase order matching, and proper sales & use tax compliance
- Review and submit for approval all credit card transactions for policy compliance and proper coding weekly
- Audit and submit for approval all expense reports submitted by employees monthly
- Run reporting daily to ensure purchase orders are being tracked and reconciled correctly
- Review negative inventory in NetSuite daily and collaborate with branches to correct any negative balances
- Manage the tracking of all vendor forms required for corporate compliance and tax, (ie - Vendor Forms, W-9’s, and Certificates of Insurance for subcontractors)
- Validate and process all requests for all vendor changes
- Process and prepare sales and use tax forms as required
- Drive the 1099 process at year-end to ensure proper reporting in a timely manner
- Input all inventory adjustments in Service Titan each month-end close after branch reporting is submitted
- Ad hoc reporting as needed
The Person
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or similar
- 4+ years accounting experience
- Possess excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Ability to think independently to solve practical problems and present solutions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Team oriented
- Experience in NetSuite is a plus
- Work in a fast paced, ever evolving environment while maintaining a positive attitude
The Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat
- Travel up to 25% of the time
