Overview:

The Mortgage Compliance Risk Manager is an advanced compliance position that administers an effective Mortgage Quality Control Program (MQCP) to execute every element required by investors, secondary market entities, or regulators to be part of a quality control program. The MQCP Manager directs associates and develops appropriate procedures for origination/production, quality control, pre-funding procedures, random selection, document reverification process, establishing tolerances, red flags, audit underwriting and closing, and servicing. This position is responsible to develop a structure that identifies the deficiencies in the loan process and for reporting and monitoring that those deficiencies are quickly remediated. This position combines knowledge of and experience with federal banking laws/regulations and mortgage investor (GSEs/FHA/VA/Rural Housing/Private Investors/etc.) requirements to assist the Consumer Compliance Director with ensuring that the Bank achieves optimum compliance with investor requirements; applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations; investor contractual terms and agreements; and monitors the QC plan to assess fraud, negligence, error, and omissions by all participants in the mortgage process, including third parties.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages, develops, and directs the MQCP to effectively meet the expectations of investors and regulators
  • Manages implementation and post-implementation testing of changed investor requirements and regulations in the MQCP
  • Maintains a process to ensure accuracy of the results from MQCP
  • Identifies risks and root causes and provides reporting to management
  • Monitors action plans to correct deficiencies to assure compliance with investor expectations
  • Assesses departmental training needs and develops plan to enhance associate skills
Qualifications:
  • Four-year undergraduate degree and five years’ experience in a mortgage quality control or comparable environment with managerial experience
  • Advanced knowledge of related state and federal compliance regulations specifically related to mortgage operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Demonstrated proficiency in knowledge of federal, state banking laws and regulations
  • Experience in retail and wholesale mortgage operations and workflows
  • Previous managerial experience, preferably in a mortgage quality control environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented, accurate, and organized
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with software platforms that support the MQCP such as Aces
