Responsibilities:
This is a remote/virtual position. Candidate can be based anywhere within the United States.

This position is being added to support continued growth of the Sargent & Lundy Consulting group, which regularly provides technical and financial due diligence, planning and advisory services, asset transaction support, project development services, and owner’s engineering services; primarily within the energy sector. With the increasing market initiatives for decarbonization, Sargent & Lundy is pursuing new opportunities in ethanol, renewable natural gas, and biomethane. This position will require a great deal of face-to-face interaction with utilities, project developers, investors, technology companies, and financial institutions during the execution of consulting services work for the firm.
Common responsibilities include:
  • Perform due diligence evaluations of power, energy infrastructure, and industrial projects, including greenfield projects, retrofits, refinancing, and acquisitions
  • Develop operation and maintenance cost estimates for existing facilities and proposed capital improvements
  • Perform feasibility studies and develop capital cost estimates for proposed projects or to compare alternative technologies
Qualifications:
We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or other applicable technical degree, with five or more years of experience, including:
  • Fundamental knowledge of process operations including reaction chemistry, distillation, heat transfer, and related process concepts.
  • Ethanol production through batch fermentation and distillation
  • Understanding of industrial equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, distillation columns, etc.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
  • Technical knowledge in power generation technologies
  • Carbon capture technologies
  • Experience with biomethane, eMethanol, or renewable natural gas
