About the role

We are looking for a Senior Geomet to join the Kennecott Technical Services team. The Senior Geomet will ensure the integrity and availability of orebody information related to throughput, recovery, and concentrate quality of the ore body and stockpiles as well as provide support across the multidisciplinary team to maximize the benefit and minimize potentially wide-ranging orebody risks.

Reporting to the Manager, Technical services you will:

• Work in a safe manner and promote a safety culture through company programs.
• Perform regular QA/QC on data collected. Validation of data and loading of data into databases for use in modeling systems
• Interact with and advise Ore Control Engineers and Mine Planners with respect to ore characteristics and the ore performance in the downstream plants
• Develop and maintain appropriate documentation
• Coordinate and conduct statistical analysis on ore body performance through the Mill · Perform special projects as required
• Direct collection of, preparation, and delivery of ore type samples to laboratories.

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Minimum 5 years of experience managing, analyzing, and modelling Plant Metallurgical performance based on ore body characteristics
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Able to conduct rigorous statistical analysis on plant performance
• 3D modeling program experience desirable (Minesight, Vulcan)

Where you will be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
