About the Role:

The Director of Sales, NY/NJ Direct leads all branded sales activities including establishing regional market and channel strategy, monitoring and management of opportunity pipeline, direct sales activities, customer relations and related financial performance for the branded broker, dealer and commission marketer channels for the greater metropolitan New York/New Jersey marketing areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retain and grow region's branded sales volume and site count and profit using sales strategies and commercial competence,
  • Directly responsible for leading, mentor and counseling the NY/NJ Direct field-based sales team.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to direct reports to advance customer negotiations through the various sales opportunity stages.
  • Delegation negotiations and branded contract renewals.
  • Directly responsible for the commercial P&L for the NY/NJ Direct business.
  • Establish implement market and channel 3-year roadmap strategy for the NY/NJ region.
  • Manage material cash cost budget plans and implement capital improvements.
  • Supervise and run number of accounts in the sales pipeline to ensure appropriate level of new site development and delivery of incremental volume growth opportunities.
  • Achieve multiple year regional targets for new sites and manage win-loss ratios
  • Provide in field sales training, development and coaching and establishes a collaborative culture vital to achieve high performance.
  • Works closely with the supply, pricing, legal, marketing, maintenance, construction, real estate and new energies for mobility teams to achieve territory strategy and financial goals.
  • Work proactively with existing and prospective branded distributors, direct brokers and dealers to identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities to build mutual value.
  • Handle annual operating and maintenance budget and total cash cost budget.

Job Requirements:

  • 10 years of relevant front-line sales experience in a B2B sales environment.
  • 5 years of people team lead sales management experience.
  • Bachelors Degree, MBA preferred.· Advanced knowledge of branded fuels and convenience retail business. B2B relationship management.
  • 5 years of functional relationship management roles including working with senior management in customer organizations and proven track record working with external parties and or municipalities.
  • Enhanced knowledge of Marketing theory and concepts and financial analysis. Advanced knowledge of fuel and energy marketing and pricing structures. Ability to analyze competition, customer profitability and forecasting to achieve annual plan goals. Develop and implement action plans to secure, retain and grow customer accounts.
  • Application of financial skills, including key financial ratios, in business consulting.
  • Strong background in team leadership, mentorship and performance management.
  • Deep understanding of value-selling and sales negotiations.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively develop and maintain customer relationships.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations and conversations with the ability to mentor and counsel customers on operational items.
  • Proven track record for sales acquisition of new business.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end supply chain and fuel/energy for mobility pricing.
  • Commercial application of network planning and optimization w/ knowledge of real estate asset management.
  • Experience with Salesforce application for managing opportunity pipelines.
