The Senior Manager, Quality Control will be responsible for developing and leading our quality control program and will report to the SVP of Operations. Through a strong partnership with
R&D, Packaging, Operations and suppliers they will ensure that established quality standards are met and will lead the resolution of any quality issues identified.
It is preferred that the role be based in Southern California or near our lab in Pearl River, NYC.
Core responsibilities – about the role
- Partner with R&D, Packaging and Quality Assurance on the process to design, maintain and ensure approved range boards and standards are current and being distributed and stored efficiently and correctly.
- Provide technical support to manufacturers, define, analyze, review, and evaluate problems for prompt solutions. Support line trials at manufacturing sites.
- Work with external vendors to make sure there is a solid inspection process; review their inspection reports. Use these inspection reports to help drive compliance.
- Visual inspect finished goods and components and compare them to approved standards using statistical analysis as an inspection plan.
- Manage corrective action and preventive action (CAPA) programs focusing on root cause analysis. Create and keep records of CAPA's and NCR's. The CAPA process focuses on the investigation of root causes of identified problems and establishes procedures for prevention. NCR's are forms that document products that do not meet standards.
- Partner with Customer Service to trend and investigate customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
- Work cross-functionally to resolve any quality issues identified. Use various data points – impact to customer, financial, etc. to make recommendations.
- Develop, or enhance processes and follow through on implementation.
- Create quality KPIs to help identify ongoing issues and drive changes.
- Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
Qualifications – about you
- 7 years' experience in Quality Assurance or Control required.
- Prior consumer packaged goods experience required, ideally in the beauty/cosmetics industry.
- Prior experience in developing and establishing QC processes required.
- Demonstrated innovative problem solving and partnering skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, often-changing environment.
- Must be able to travel to suppliers, contract manufacturers and distribution centers as needed.
