Responsibilities

Advanced Analytics Senior Manager:
As an Advanced Analytics manager, you will directly report to Head of Risk Modeling data and be responsible for (1) strategic thinking to bring ideas around data and analytics for different risk types, 2) effective data science and analytics delivery and 3) Coordinating between business and functional/ technical teams to ensure delivery. This role will collaborate with key US leaders as an advanced analytics translator to lead the development of data science solutions that create measurable and sustainable value. Projects are diverse in nature and size and you will have the opportunity to build deep knowledge and a network within each area across Risk Analytics.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the modeling, analytics, business and management teams to design advanced analytics solutions to generate insights and actions at faster pace;
  • Apply your skills in data analysis, modeling, and storytelling using tools such as Python, R, Presto, SQL, and Tableau to address problems and derive actionable insights in Risk Analytics Modeling, process and analytics
  • Collaborate directly with stakeholders and build understanding of their business processes and goals to identify and propose opportunities to leverage data science & analytical methods
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders and leadership teams with clear summaries and recommendations to inform next steps
  • Lead the development of machine learning and statistical predictive models and ensure rigorous data quality
Key Accountabilities

Support the Head of risk modeling data in developing advanced analytics capabilities across the Risk.
  • Develop and execute strategies to deliver successful analytics to market where new inventions can benefit the team in bringing insights faster with economy of scale.
  • Define patterns and processes to develop and deploy quantitative / Machine learning models while thinking strategically.
  • Leverage design thinking to derive empathy and insights that improve adoption of new solutions.
  • Partner with other operations and product teams for automation, optimization and develop solutions to improve internal payment workflows and tooling
  • Buildout, innovate and expand risk analytics ownership and capabilities around internal as well as external data.
  • Participate and collaborate in the creation of a culture that promotes analytics-driven decisions backed by investigation and collaboration around risk data
  • Ensure meeting all the regulatory / compliance / accounting requirements with respect to the risk analytics capabilities
  • Maintain awareness of upcoming or proposed industry regulatory actions and supervisory requirements
  • Scan the horizon for emerging analytical skills, techniques, technologies and, where appropriate, tools / data build to ensure their timely introduction for competitive advantage

  • This job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance oversight, operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Successful candidates must exhibit CIBC’s values of trust, team work, and accountability
  • Candidate must have 6-10 years of experience in risk analytics or related work experience
  • Master degree with major in economics, statistics, finance, accounting or related are area is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, experience with infrastructure, tools, systems, reporting, and data is a strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience building analytical solutions with varying data sources (e.g., structured, unstructured data)
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams and prior experience working with Product and Technology teams
  • Advanced understanding of SQL and working with large datasets, high proficiency with Excel based data analysis
  • Exceptional collaborative and troubleshooting/deductive skills including the ability to engage in operational incidents with emerging data to assess impact and drive collaborative resolution
  • Experience in identifying predictive / prescriptive use cases, framing the business problem, and building analytical solutions
  • Demonstrated consulting, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Project management experience
  • Demonstrated track record of driving through projects to successful conclusion
