Overview:

The Senior Network Architect is accountable for the team that builds, manages, monitors, administers and secures the local, wide area, and wireless networks that power Corporate HQ, branches, and data centers in North America.

The Senior Network Architect drives innovation and continuous improvement for all WAN, LAN and wireless networks. This role provides strategic thought leadership in the development of next-generation architectures enabling sophisticated automation as part of the Information Technology project portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring that security best practices are created, updated and enforced at all levels.

Responsibilities:
  • Designs and documents technical network systems to ensure technical design integrates with business design
  • Provides day-to-day direction, technical leadership, and strategic direction for the team
  • Assists in the hiring, development, and retention of top talent to successfully maintain and incrementally improve the network
  • Drives material cost reductions in network infrastructure by simplifying designs, leveraging economies of scale, and partnering with our strategic vendors
  • Builds vendor partnerships and leverages those relationships to ensure organization is receiving quality service within published service level agreements and within budget
  • Oversees the maintenance, review and revision of contracts and leases for all network and telecommunications software, hardware, and services
  • Administers, interprets, and maintains current working knowledge of the required systems, procedures, forms and manuals as related to the assigned area of responsibility
  • Informs the team of new or updated service standards, systems, and procedures through staff meetings and verbal and written communications.
  • Reviews and updates department documentation and policies and procedures related to the department goals and objectives
  • Consults and coordinates with various internal departments, external or business partners, providers and business entities as a representative of the areas of responsibility.
  • Prevents downtime, increases system availability, creates capacity plans, monitors performance, provides performance tuning, manages data and/or ensures data integrity
  • Ensures proper alerts and notifications are in place, reviewed, and updated
  • Evaluates and analyzes data on performance/capacity and reports on key measurements
  • Performs product evaluation, product installation, and product upgrade efforts
  • Recommends hardware and sizing and implements/installs hardware and software products, as well as new standards and procedures
  • Coordinates maintenance effort of supported systems and environmental infrastructure
  • Provides and ensures a secure environment and assists other areas in security support
  • Develops, tests, and monitors security and internal controls
  • Develops procedures that promotes efficient and effective use of system environment and resources
  • Addresses technical issues escalated within the team
  • Analyzes impact of proposed solutions on applications and systems performance
  • Reviews system, technical and internal customer documentation for accurate content
  • Explains/trains as subject matter expert on technical concepts of product environments, operating systems, and related utilities
  • Performs peer reviews for technical documentation
  • Reviews current and emerging information technology and trends and provides short and long term roadmaps

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Supervisory role is limited to assigning work and reviewing work of others, does not conduct performance reviews, but has input to IT Lead and Management
  • Works under minimal supervision, relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals
  • Performs at a level clearly above that of the related Technical Specialists by demonstrating greater productivity, proficiency, leadership and mastery of job content
  • Technical Lead on small to Large projects; participates as subject matter expert in projects of all sizes
  • Cloud Architectural Design (Azure)
  • SDWAN Architectural Design
  • Must be knowledgeable in software-defined networking concepts, to include underlay/overlay networking with preference for Arista experience
  • Must be intimately familiar with BGP, to include multi-address family peering
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field 10-15 years network engineering experience
  • Experience designing and implementing Arista EOS, CloudVision, LANZ, and DANZ
  • Networking certifications: CCNA, CCNP or equivalent
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of scaled systems, ability to identify problem areas, uphold network quality, and drive design
  • Expert on of WAN, LAN and Wi-Fi technology
  • Strong knowledge of IT security requirements and experience working with information security
  • Experience with Lean IT concepts
  • Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
