Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management and department leaders during project development. This includes gathering business and technical requirements, identifying project risk levels, setting project timelines, and analyzing costs to come up with best solution to meet or exceed business expectations.
  • Create and maintain accurate infrastructure documentation.
  • Maximizing network efficiency by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; proactively addressing network optimization needs.
  • Provides work leadership, mentorship, and training to lower-level network engineers.
  • Provides direction, information and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.
  • Builds, maintains, and manages strong vendor relationships to resolve problems and coordinate the delivery of IT products and services.
  • Administration of systems and servers related to the network infrastructure to ensure availability of services.
  • Coordinate repairs and technical support for network services and systems
  • Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access.
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information.
  • Maintain current documentation of KHI’s network architecture and systems.
  • Research and oversee implementation of new technologies.
  • Support 24/7 operations as needed for network infrastructure after hours & weekends.
  • Communicate in an effective and professional manner to individual users, groups of users, and other KHI employees.
  • Ensures that assets are responsibly maintained, inventoried and/or disposed of properly.
  • Works with the user community in satisfying their needs.
  • Effectively manages work orders and/or project assignments
  • Encourages the user community to actively participate in developing requirements, testing, and acceptance of the system.
  • Communicates across groups within IS and across user communities to facilitate communications and rapport between all interested parties.

  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills; documents and reports are clear and concise.

  • Acts as a spokesperson with executives, staff, prospects, and industry contacts; develop and leverage knowledge from a network of internal / external business partners, academics, and technology thought leaders.
  • Consistently takes initiative to find and complete projects without being asked.
  • Recognizes, prioritizes, and performs duties in a timely manner.
  • Develops innovative solutions to system problems.
  • Prepares daily work program for self, recognizes and performs duties although not directly assigned.
  • Seeks guidance and direction, as necessary, for the successful completion of job duties.
  • Consistently demonstrates competence in the day-to-day scheduling of duties by completing all priority and related tasks on time with minimal supervision.
  • Carefully tests and evaluates system changes prior to applying in a production environment.
  • Takes preemptive action to avoid problems.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in lieu of degree a minimum of 10 years with prove record of designing and implementing large-scale mission critical networks.
Experience:
  • Routing protocol proficiency including but not limited to: IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP
  • Proficiency in configuring L2 / L3 multicast networks Cisco / Juniper.
  • Proficiency in configuration and troubleshooting of high availability protocols such as VRRP, HSRP, and GLBP.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to include some of the following: session level debugging and interpreting data flow, packet / protocol analyzers, debug logs, SNMP, network packets, etc. to find and remedy application and network performance issues.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Implementation and support/troubleshooting of BGP, OSPF, Site-to-Site VPN, DMVPN, and Multicast.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP, NetFlow, access-control lists, policy-based routing, firewalls, peering, IP subnetting, and DNS
  • Understanding of RADIUS, TACACS+, SNMP, SSH, Syslogging.
  • Detailed understanding of switching, VLANs, VRF and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of QOS/COS configuration.
  • Knowledge of network security exploit identification and Intrusion detection/prevention as well as security event analysis and monitoring.
  • Enterprise monitoring systems (SolarWinds Orion, PRTG, etc.).
  • Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity planning.
  • Ability to create strong working relationships within IS and KHI departments.
  • Ability to think independently, critically, and work at the highest technical levels to ensure the infrastructure is scalable, stable, available, documented, and secure.
  • Must have proven ability to translate business requirements into creditable infrastructure designs based upon the organization's strategic vision.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to tie strategy and actions to business impact and results.
  • Ability to provide accurate work descriptions with needed hours for completion, assumptions, and risks.
  • Must understand the project delivery lifecycle and be able to create detailed design, test, and validation documentation.
Preferences: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCIP) and Project Management
