General Description

The Research & Development Engineer will contribute to the development of new pulsed-field energy delivery devices. This role includes technical contribution to the design and development projects and execution of product verification and validation testing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Key contributor on development and design control inputs required for Advanced treatment systems.
  • Develop robust, reliable, and user-friendly platforms for accurate delivery of treatment.
  • Work with cross-functional resources to resolve design issues, define key characteristics, dimensional tolerances, manufacturing procedures, etc.
  • Support process and test development through the design of fixtures and equipment.
  • Collaborate with consultants and/or contract manufacturer on detail design and development of next generation advanced treatment devices intended for commercial distribution per the Design Control Process.
  • Support the design of components, sub-assembly, finish assembly and package assembly ensuring that all design requirements are met.
  • Present data and conclusions to support research and/or development activities.
  • Write and review test protocols, reports, and intellectual property.
  • Provide technical support to Quality for CAPA investigations, complaints, and failure investigations.
  • Provide technical support to Operations in developing and executing acceptance test protocols.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.


Key Requirements


Education and Training:
Scientific degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with consideration given to degree level combined with experience. Other degrees within the engineering discipline acceptable with medical device experience.


Skills and Experience:

  • Experience developing state-of-the-art ablation devices/systems or similar medical devices (2+ years’ Experience with B.S. in Engineering/Science. 1+ years’ experience with M.S.).
  • Strong working knowledge of medical device design controls, risk management, human factors, and quality systems desired.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks preferred) with experience in disposable devices.
  • Ability to work and contribute effectively in a team environment while also being able to work and solve problems working independently when necessary.
  • Experienced in design of experiments, structured problem solving, design verification testing and design validation testing.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving company and operate with a high sense of urgency.


Other:
Domestic and international travel (less than 20%) to collaborate with external vendors and support clinical trials when necessary
